PILAR MESTRES’ SCHOOL EXTENSION

The new school extension incorporates a nursery school and a sports track to the existing building. In addition, restoration works at the original façades were made.

The new nursery school is placed in front of the existing building. It is a one-storey and “L” shaped construction with a perimetrical passage providing access to the different classrooms. These classrooms face the interior south playground, so the small children playing area remains separated from the rest of the school areas.

Also a sweeping refurbishment of the existing building and its access was made. A 4 metres wide courtyard excavation along the main façade brings back to life the disused semi-basement. The new accesses are organized with stairs, a ramp and a crossing footbridge over the courtyard hole.
