The new “Diputació de Barcelona” bookshop is placed in a 50 m2 space on the ground floor of Can Serra’s building, just beside the entrance hall.
Projected as a shopwindow, the space takes advantage of its longitudinal shape. All projected elements follow this principle; some book shelves (main element of the project), a counter for books and catalogues, another one for computer searching and a third one for customer service. A dividing glazing pane establishes visual connection between both the bookshop and the hall areas.
The pavement has two stripes following this longitudinal direction. The inside one, touching the book shelves, is a translucent pavement backlighted with entry points of the dictionary for book and bookshop words. The second one, paved with green marble pieces, creates a deep contrast with the lighted one.
