The 1st and 2nd phase of the seafront construction extends along 1.450 m, from the train station to the “Caballo de mar” camping. The project’s aim was to create a pedestrian esplanade capable of keeping the beach’s natural character as well as generating a new leisure area usable all year long. The promenade is adapted to the existing flatten strip land, running parallel to the train tracks.
There are several gardened and coarsed sand areas, while a paved meander gets through the vegetation. One of the new main construction elements is a prefabricated concrete piece (1,8×3 m) slightly sloped like a wedge. It’s used as a gentle transition between the coarse and the beach sand. The beach accessibility has been improved by creating an underground passage with stairs and ramps to cross the existing train tracks. An overcrossing new footbridge links both seafront promenades over the Pineda’s stream.
